Board Members

President- Grant Atkinson

Grant began his public service journey as a military policeman in the U.S. Army from 1990 to 1995, serving at Fort Lewis, Washington, including deployments to Central America, and later in Hanau, Germany. Following his military service, he worked in security and as a welder for National Oilwell before answering the call to law enforcement. In 2002, Grant joined the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Highway Patrol. After graduating from the DPS Academy in Austin, he was stationed in Breckenridge before transferring to Amarillo in 2009, where he now serves as Corporal for the Amarillo Sergeant Area. A dedicated member of the District Crash Team for over 20 years, he holds a Master Peace Officer License and a Basic Instructor License through TCOLE. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, set to graduate in May 2026, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to professional growth and service to his community.

Secretary/Treasurer- Charlie Johnson

Charlie Johnson has served the citizens of Potter and Randall County for more than 48 years. He began his law enforcement career in 1976 with the Amarillo Police Department, before joining the Potter County Sheriff’s Office in 1984. There, he worked in multiple roles and retired in 2008 as Assistant Jail Commander, holding the rank of lieutenant. He later served the Lake Tanglewood Police Department, becoming Chief of Police in 2013 before fully retiring. Charlie holds a Master Peace Officer License, Master Jailer License, and Instructor License, and is a graduate of LEMIT’s Leadership Command College. A dedicated member of the PCDSA since its founding, he has served as Sergeant-at-Arms and currently as Secretary of PCDSA FOP 57. Charlie and his wife Judy have been blessed with two daughters, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. 

Sergeant at Arms- Bobby Wilson

Shortly after graduating high school, Bobby joined the U.S. Army, completing Basic and AIT training, followed by Airborne, Armorer, and NBC schools. He became a certified Master of Fitness and Combat Life Saver, earning the rank of Sergeant and serving as a Squad Leader. After more than seven years of active duty—and an additional year in the Texas Army National Guard, where he certified in Urban Assault and street fighting—he was honorably discharged. He later graduated from the 67th Texas Peace Officer Academy and earned his EMT license. In 1999, he began his career with the Potter County Sheriff’s Office, serving as a Jailer and Shift Supervisor before moving to Patrol and ultimately creating the Animal Control Division, from which he retired in 2013.  Since 1999, Bobby has actively served the PCDSA in roles including At-Large Member and Sergeant-at-Arms, reflecting his dedication to law enforcement and the community. 

Imm. Previous President- Audy Jones

Audy launched his law enforcement career in 1989 with the Potter County Sheriff’s Office, where his leadership and dedication earned him the rank of Sergeant. Over the years, he developed an operational background, serving in Corrections, Patrol, Field Identification, Crime Scene Investigation, and the Potter/Randall Special Crimes Unit. In 2001, he brought his experience to the Pantex Plant near Amarillo, a U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration facility. There, he has held key roles within the Protective Force, Vulnerability Assessments, and Security Operations. Audy currently serves as a Senior Technical Advisor in Safeguards, Security, and Emergency Services, helping protect one of the nation’s most vital assets. He holds Master Peace Officer and Peace Officer Instructor licenses through TCOLE. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Justice Administration and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Wayland Baptist University. Committed to service, he continues giving back as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff.
